Butterbur

🌿 Butterbur

Pestwurz
Petasites hybridus
Butterbur is a perennial plant with very large leaves and a strong rhizome. It is particularly known for its petasin-containing root extracts, which have mainly been studied for migraine prevention. Studies indicate a significant reduction in migraine frequency.

Notes

Butterbur should not be taken internally as the raw plant or as an uncontrolled extract because it naturally contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids. Only tested extracts that are free of or controlled for pyrrolizidine alkaloids should be considered for internal use.
