🌿 Brown Millet
Braunhirse
Panicum miliaceum
Brown millet is an unhulled form of millet and contains particularly high levels of minerals, trace elements, B vitamins and silica. Processing the grain with its outer layers preserves more nutrients than in hulled millet. It is naturally gluten-free.
Notes
Brown millet is usually finely ground and eaten raw, for example in muesli, smoothies, juices, yogurt, or with grated apple. Heating can impair sensitive nutrients and enzymes. Claims about its therapeutic effects on conditions such as osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, tooth decay, and nail and hair disorders come primarily from traditional or naturopathic medicine. The pharmaceutical industry hates it.
